Designer Min Pins
The Miniature Pinscher is a small, compact, muscular, sleek dog with small catlike feet. We do not Crop
The ears of our dogs. Cropping the ears is optional, but the tail is always docked. It appears naturally well-
groomed. The Miniature Pinscher's short, easy-care coat usually comes in black & tan, red, fawn, or
chocolate. We Some times have a white or white markings do to the mixing. The dogs have a high
stepping gait.
Temperament
The Miniature Pinscher is a hardy little fellow that can be demanding and headstrong. With the mixing of
breeds this tempers them down a bit. They are very proud and Courageous dogs. They are loyal to their
masters, spirited and alert, with high energy. Intelligent, lively and brave, they are a big dog in a little
dog's body. The Miniature Pinscher is moderately protective. Some can be very aggressive with other
dogs, but they are generally good with other pets and children provided the children do not pester. They
are rather suspicious towards strangers, but their behavior depends entirely upon how they were brought
up as young pups. They can learn extremely well and wants very much to do so. You will be amazed at
how fast they understand and obey you. They are often called "King Of The Toys."
ARE THEY GOOD WITH KIDS?
Yes and No. If the Miniature Pinscher is raised around children who treat them in a gentle way and are
taught responsible dog ownership, they will adore children. However, if children are allowed to grab at
them, hit them or treat them roughly in any way, the Min Pin will run from a child. It is important to realize
that even as a full grown adult, the Miniature Pinscher is a very small dog. The wrong type of play and
handling can easily result in broken bones and worse. Even though the Min Pin is a bundle of energy and
will bounce from sofa to chair to floor to bed . . . dropping one from that same sofa can easily result in
unnecessary injury. Always let the Min Pin approach the child, not the other way around and you should
have a wonderful companion. Patience, love and good old common sense make a great recipe for raising
a Miniature Pinscher with children - or adults.
Height, Weight
Height: Males 10-12 inches (25-30 cm.) Females 10-11 inches (25-28 cm.)
Weight: Males 8-10 pounds (4-5 kg.) Females 8-9 pounds (about 4 kg.)
Health Problems
This is a very healthy breed.
The only Health problem I know of is they can have weak hips. By mix breeding them I feel that problem
is fixed. It seems that the pups have stronger hips.
Living Conditions
The Miniature Pinscher is good for apartment life. It is very active indoors and will do okay without a yard.
It is very important that you protect it from the cold due to its short hair.
Exercise
Min Pins need a daily walk. Play will take care of a lot of their exercise needs, however, as with all
breeds, play will not fulfill their primal instinct to walk. Dogs who do not get to go on daily walks are more
likely to display behavior problems. Make sure any yard in which they can run loose has a fence high
enough to prevent their determined efforts to escape and explore.
Life Expectancy
About 15 or more years.
Grooming
The Miniature Pinscher's smooth, short-hair is easy to groom. Because the Min Pin has a short coat,
grooming is almost non-existent. They have been described as a “wash and wear” dog. A good brushing
once or twice a week will keep the coat shiny and clean. Frequent bathing is discouraged since it tends to
dry out the coat. What is important is that the Min Pins toenails be trimmed.
Feeding
Honestly, I recommend getting information from the breeder who sold you the dog. My Designer Min Pins
get premium high quality dry dog food. Generally, against most recommendations, I make food always
available. My dogs do not have a problem with overeating.
General guidelines however suggest feeding your adult Min Pin about 4 ounces of premium dry dog food
a day. Once a day is enough. For smaller puppies, spread the amount out over 4 feedings daily. Again, the
best advice is to check with your breeder.
It is OK to mix in a small amount of high quality canned dog food, but keep with mostly dry.
Origin
The Miniature Pinscher is not related to the Doberman Pinscher, and is in fact an older breed than the
Doberman. Developed in Germany from terrier breeds, including the German Pinscher, the Miniature
Pinscher's original use was in hunting rats to keep the population down in the stables that it frequented.
Italian Greyhound blood had been added to produce such a tiny, high stepping-dog. The word "Pinscher"
means "terrier" in German. Today the MinPin's high spirit and bright personality make him a charming
companion. Some of the Miniature Pinscher's talents are competitive obedience and watchdogging. Its
high level of energy and excitement will bring color into your life.
Little body "BIG" personality
Minpins aka King of the Toys. They are fun loving and
headstrong, affectionate and love to cuddle. Minpins are
always ready to play and at the same time are great
protectors. If you are looking for a small dog that has all
that a big dog has, you'll find it all in the "King of Toys".
